NCHS cagers defeat Rock Springs

Natrona County High School extended its Class 4A West boys’ basketball mark to 4-0 with a pair of weekend wins at Casper College.

The Mustangs outscored second-ranked Rock Springs 40-27 in the second half, rallying for a 61-51 victory Friday. NCHS used its superior size, scoring often inside in the fourth period. Kyle Vinich led the scoring with 17 points. Jordan Dick had 10, Kyle Murphy nine and Travis Hayden eight.

Outscoring Green River 22-7 in the pivotal third period, the Mustangs rolled past the Wolves 55-31 on Saturday. Vinich was the top scorer with 10 points.

The NCHS girls split their games, falling to Rock Springs 46-43 before posting a 48-39 win over Green River. Their league record is 3-1. Stephanie Lee had 12 points and Madison Browning 11. On Saturday, Ashley Creager netted 12 points, leading NC past Green River.

Both Kelly Walsh teams dropped their weekend games. Boys’ scores were Cheyenne Central 59, KW 36; and Cheyenne East 66, KW 53. Girls scores: Central 43, KW 30. No score was available for the KW-East girls’ game.
