NCHS students use chicken to raise money for children in Africa

Sunday, November 29, 2009 7:00 AM MST

Natrona County High School H.E.A.R.T. students raised approximately $600 last week for child survivors of AIDS in Africa.

Students placed a live, caged chicken in a classroom. The class task was to raise $5 to move the chicken to another classroom of students' choice. At the end of the week, H.E.A.R.T. students raised more than $598, which will assist child survivors of AIDS in Africa and provide them with education and a support system for their adoptive families.

" This is an excellent article, and we are delighted that the Casper College Inga Thorson Early Childhood Learning Center takes such a strong stand for play in early education. In the Alliance for Childhood, a partnership of educators, health professionals, parents and others who are deeply concerned about the health and well-being of children, we are fully committed to the restoration of play in children's lives, especially in early education. Our new report, "Crisis in the Kindergarten: Why Children Need to Play in School" makes a strong case for play and incluces supporting research. It can be found on our web site, www.allianceforchildhood.org. We are happy to hear your comments on this vital topic.
