The popular German advent calendars are now on sale at Casper College.

Imported from Germany, the calendars are the original "Schubert Schokolade Adventskalen” and cost only $4 each. The advent calendars make great gifts, especially for children and grandchildren, according to Lora Hittle, World Languages Department chair at the college.

The calendars are available in two different designs. Per German custom, they have real German milk chocolate tucked behind 24 small doors, each of which represents a day of December leading up to Christmas.

According to Hittle, the calendar sale raises funds for Casper College’s Gamma Rho Chapter of Alpha Mu Gamma (National Foreign Language Collegiate Honorary). The profits are used to pay for the honor cords worn by the members of Alpha Mu Gamma at graduation for recognition of their scholastic achievement. In addition, the profits are also used to pay a portion of the students’ application fee to Alpha Mu Gamma and to go toward funding Alpha Mu Gamma student projects.
