NEW STIMULUS BILL PROVIDES ADDITIONAL BENEFITS TO EMERGENCY UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE IN WYOMING

CASPER, Wyo. n Newly approved additional unemployment benefits will provide eligible Wyoming residents up to 14 additional weeks of unemployment insurance benefits, according to the Wyoming Department of Employment.

The Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Act of 2009, which amends the Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2008, will provide additional benefits, including a week added to the current 13 week EUC Tier II program and the creation of an EUC Tier III program with 13 weeks of potential benefits.

After traditional unemployment benefits are exhausted, EUC Tier I benefits begin, which pay up to 20 weeks of benefits. EUC Tier II, the maximum benefit of which has just been extended from 13 to 14 weeks, is followed by the newly created EUC Tier III, which lasts up to 13 weeks.

These additional benefits are a result of President Barack Obama signing a $24 billion economic stimulus bill Nov. 6. The Wyoming Department of Employment, Unemployment Insurance Division, will mail revised monetary determinations to current EUC Tier II claimants to reflect the additional week of benefits. Claimants close to exhausting their Tier II benefits will automatically receive a notice regarding potential eligibility for the Tier III program.
