Round Table fundraiser benefits Joshua’s
The Round Table Honor Society at the University of Wyoming/Casper College (UW/CC) Center raised $2,035 through a raffle to benefit Joshua’s Storehouse in Casper.
Dale Hanson of Green River won a snow blower, valued at $700, which was donated by Elmer Pace of Dayton Transmission and Chad Nelson of Nelico Equipment.
In addition to the money earned through the sale of raffle tickets, the honor society has applied for a matching community grant from Wal-Mart.
“If the grant is approved, Wal-Mart will match our donation up to $1,000,” said Natalie Pique, a UW/CC Center psychology major and treasurer of the Round Table Honor Society.
“We would like to thank our sponsors, Dayton Transmission and Nelico Equipment, as well as all of the people who purchased raffle tickets; the faculty and staff at the UW/CC Center; and all the members of the Round Table who participated in the fundraiser, especially Annette Green, who arranged the snow blower donation and sold the most raffle tickets,” Pique added.
The funds raised by the honor society will help to buy gifts and incidentals for Casper families in need.

Register for ACT by Jan. 4
The next ACT exam will be administered on Feb. 9, and students who wish to take the college admission and placement exam on this date must register by Jan. 4, which is the deadline for having their registration postmarked.
There is a late registration postmark deadline of Jan. 18; an extra fee is charged for late registrations.
Students can register online at www.actstudent.org , or registration forms can be picked up at high school counseling offices.
The cost is $30 for the traditional ACT and $44.50 for the ACT Plus Writing. Some colleges require ACT’s optional Writing Test score, but many don’t, so students should find out the requirements of prospective colleges before registering for the exam.
CT scores are accepted by all major four-year colleges and universities across the United States.
ACT’s Web site (www.actstudent.org) has helpful information about the ACT and how to prepare for it, including sample tests. It also provides information on college planning, financial aid, career planning and the opportunity to order inexpensive test prep materials.
The ACT usually is given in all 50 states, U.S. Territories, Puerto Rico and Canada, in October, December, February, April and June.
The next national test date for the ACT after Feb. 9 is April 12.
