Casper Figure Skating Club coach Jessica Hurless received the 2008 VanNostrand Award, which is presented annually to the outstanding out-of-town coach attending the Jackson Hole Invitational.
Selection is based on the number of skaters and entries that each coach brings to that invitational. Hurless took 11 skaters from Casper.
This award was established to honor Jim VanNostrand's enthusiasm for figure skating and his ability to inspire young skaters to get on the ice and have fun, according to the awards page of the Jackson Hole Figure Skating Club Web site, http://www.jhfsc.org/awards.htm.
The award was incorrectly named in the April 9 Casper Journal as the Most Prestigious Coach Award, and the number of students was listed as 22.
