Paint Your Heart Out

Armed with paintbrushes and paint, 100-plus volunteers will paint 10 homes in the community June 13-14.

The event, sponsored by the Wyoming Housing Network Inc. (WHN), is in conjunction with National NeighborWorks Week.

Paint Your Heart Out is looking for 10-person teams, volunteers and additional sponsors for this annual event. WHN also is interested in connecting with those who might be interested in having their houses painted.

Applicants must meet median income guidelines.

Information regarding guidelines and applications to have houses painted are available online at www.whninc.org.

Anyone interested in a paper application, or those who are interested in volunteering or a sponsorship, can contact WHN at 472-5843. The application deadline is May 18.

Arson awareness

Arson Awareness Week is May 4-10.

The theme for this year's Arson Awareness Week is "Toy-like Lighters -- Playing with Fire."

The goal of Arson Awareness Week is to focus public attention on the dangers of toy-like or novelty lighters in the hands of children. These lighters have been responsible for injuries, deaths and accidents across the nation.

Many of these lighters look like animals, miniature cars, mobile phones, cameras, fishing lures, stacks of coins, markers and doll accessories.

Casper Fire-EMS encourages everyone to remove these types of lighters from homes with children in them.

For more information, call 235-8222.
