Blue Envelope fun run/walk planned
In conjunction with the Blue Envelope Health Fair, a two-mile fun run/walk will be held Saturday, March 29, beginning in the Casper Events Center parking lot.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with a warm-up clinic at 8:30 and the run/walk starting at 9.
Prizes will be given.
Boy Scouts host High Plains Shoot
The Third Annual High Plains Shoot, a fund-raiser for the Boy Scouts of America River Bend District, will be held Saturday, March 29.
It will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Stuckenhoff Sports Shooters complex. Youth ages 11-17 years and adults 18 and up can participate.
The Prairie Shoot includes a balloon shoot, a prairie dog shoot, trap shoot and 100- and 200-yard shoots.
The High Card Shoot includes a 100-yard shoot with a face-down deck of cards. Each participant gets two shots, and the highest card total wins.
Each event is $5 for youth and $10 for adults. Prizes will be awarded for first through third places.
Register by March 26 to avoid paying $5 extra to register on the day of the shoot.

Softball registration being accepted
Registration packets for the 2008 Softball Leagues are available at the Casper Recreation Center, at 1801 E. Fourth St.
Packets include league rules, registration procedures, entry fees, deadlines and other pertinent information. The registration deadline is Saturday, April 19.
Team fee, a minimum of 10 players’ fees and $100 umpire fee are due at the time of registration. Team managers may register at the Casper Recreation Center.
Games will be held at the Crossroads Softball Complex and North Casper Softball Complex. The following leagues are offered: Co-Ed, men’s and Women’s recreational and Men’s and Women’s competitive.

Boat owners advised to register early
Boaters should register their boats early to be ready to hit the water as soon as possible, according to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
Boaters should be aware that it is illegal to operate a watercraft without the proper license.
Any boat equipped with any size motor n electric or internal combustion n must be registered. This includes, but is not limited to, motorboats, rowboats, sailboats, sailboards, canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, rowing shells or sculls and inflatable craft.
Everyone who registered watercraft last year already should have received materials in the mail for renewal.
Even if you don’t receive notification, you are responsible for renewing the registration for your watercraft. If you are registering a boat for the first time, contact any Game and Fish office or licensing agent.
Registration forms are available from Game and Fish offices and licensing agents. Boaters with Internet access can download the appropriate forms from the Game and Fish Web page, http://gf.state.wy.us. Click on the brown “boating” link on the left side of the page.
A one-year registration is $15, and a three-year registration costs $40. All watercraft registrations expire on Dec. 31 for the period in which they are registered.

T-Bird signs to Cumberland University
Casper College sophomore Bridget Neal signed a national letter of intent on March 3 with Cumberland University in Tennessee.
Neal was a two-year starter for the Thunderbirds and an important part of last season's Region IX championship volleyball team.
Cumberland University is a NAIA school in Lebanon, Tenn., just east of Nashville.
Sports card, gaming show set
A sports card and table top gaming show will be held Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Sunrise Shopping Center.
Tables are available, and collectors are encouraged to stop by and buy, sell and trade.

Kickathon results announced
Students at the Casper Martial Arts Academy raised $3,148.30 during its St. Jude Kickathon to send to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Sixteen students completed 17,956 kicks in 50 minutes, according to owners Tom and Trish Bradach. All participants will receive a certificate from St. Jude’s.
Top collectors were Ben Byrd, $553.30; Amanda Dudgeon, $300; Von Lafave, $275; and Julia Bunnell, $225.
The other students who collected pledges were: Paige Barclay, $200; Faith Byrd, $145; Brooklyn Counts, $190; Joey Dawson, $169; Mason Jameson, $200; Makala Johnson, $125; Kaiden Jones, $140; Stephen Lovato, $80; Kati Mooney, $130; Birch Robinson, $200; Drew Stratton, $101; and Nate Stratton, $115.
Participants who raised $75 or more earned a St. Jude backpack and T-shirt. In addition, those gathering $125-$249 received a bronze medal; $250-$499, a silver medal, and more than $500, a gold medal.
Since 1998, a fun activity is planned for participants after the kickathon. This year, the instructors either shaved their heads (two went bald) or cut off pony tails.
The free cuts were provided by Kim, a kickboxing instructor; Bonnie from Mane Attraction and Shauna from the eastside Fantastic Sam’s, and the academy appreciated their services.
Powell standout signs with Lady T-Birds
Katie Patterson, a senior at Powell High School, has signed with the Casper College Lady T-Birds’ volleyball team.
The six-foot middle hitter was named All Conference Honorable Mention in 2006, All Conference, and made the All-State Team her senior year. She also lettered for all four years she was a Powell Panther.
“I’m very excited! It just felt like the right place for me,” Getter said about playing for the Thunderbirds. “Coach (Angel) Sharman took the team to Nationals last year; … she is a really good coach,” Patterson said.
Sharman said, “I think (Katie) is very talented. … I think she will be a great blocker and will develop into a great offensive threat.”
While at Casper College, Patterson plans to major in business administration. She is the daughter of David and Suzanne Patterson of Powell.
