Local musician hits top of AC chart

Shawn Michael Perry's song "Forever" has topped the AC/Hot AC Main Chart for the second weeks in a row.

It placed No. 1 for the second time in two week on April 6. It also was charting at No. 26 on the College Chart through the New Music Weekly organization.

"Forever" is a single release off of Perry's album "Only the Brave," that was re-released last year. The independent album features tracks that highlight the modern American Indian culture.

While currently working out of California and the Southwest, Perry's hometown is Casper. His office is located downtown in the Atrium Plaza.

Mannheim Steamroller tickets on sale

Tickets for "Fresh Aire," a Mannheim Steamroller concert scheduled for May 2 at the Casper Events Center, are on sale now.

The concert is a "blend of classical themes and pop elements." It also will include performances by the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, according to a release.

Tickets are $37.50, $42.50 and $50 depending on seating area. They can be purchased at the CEC Box Office, by phone at 577-3030, or on the Web at www.caspereventscenter.com.

Cinema Club screens film on Beatrix Potter

The Casper Cinema Club features "Miss Potter" on Wednesday, April 11, at 7 p.m. at the Rialto Theater.

"Miss Potter" is the story of Peter Rabbit creator Beatrix Potter. The film is rated PG and stars Renee Zellweger, Ewan McGregor and Emily Watson.

Films begin promptly at 7 p.m. Season ticket holders are requested to show up before 6:45 to ensure seating. Individual admissions are sold at the door if seating is available.

CC dance concert tickets on sale

Tickets for the Casper College Contemporary Dance Concert "Entrechat" are available now at the CC Krampert Theatre Box Office Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $10 for students and children ages 5 to 18.

"Entrechat" is a reflection of the circle of life from childhood to old age told through contemporary ballet and dance.

Performances will be held April 17-21 at 7 p.m. and April 22 at 4 p.m. in the Barbara and Leland Scifers Dance Performance Theatre in the CC Krampert Theatre Complex.

Theatre workshops offered in Glenrock

The Rock in the Glen Community Theatre will host the following all-ages workshops at the Glenrock Senior Center.

* Directing - April 14

* Box office and ushering - April 28

* Stage Management - May 5

All workshops will begin at 9:30 a.m. There is a $10 registration fee for each workshop.

Final plein-air painting meeting set

The final plein-air painting meeting sponsored by the Casper Artists' Guild will be held Thursday, April 12, at the Eastridge Mall food court.

Artists are invited to join the group and "Capture Casper" for the guild's upcoming Artwalk and Show.

The paintings created at this and the other workshops held in March and earlier this month will be offered in a silent auction the week before the Artwalk, as well as at the show's reception.

The artist will receive 80 percent of the proceeds from the sale of each painting.

Pump Night

Chad Lore welcomes the Kajagoogoo Dolls to Pump Night on Thursday, April 12, from 6-10 p.m. at Poor Boys Steakhouse.

The concert series is held every week. The following guest artists will be Vaughn Stephen Cronin and Hooch on April 19.

Playwright workshop offered

Noted playwright Arthur Giron will conduct a free playwriting seminar for two weeks beginning on Friday, April 27, from 1-3 p.m. in the conference room of the Casper College Gertrude Krampert Theatre.

A second session will be held Friday, May 4, from 1-3 p.m.

Giron is the author of "Flight," the next play in the CC Theatre Department's 2006-07 season. It will be performed May 4, 5 and 8-12 in the college's Black Box Theatre.

A founding member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York, Giron is playwright of such works as "Edith Stein" and "Moving Bodies."

An opening night reception and question and answer session is planned for May 4 following the production. It will be held in the south lobby of the theatre complex.

CC instructor James Olm, a friend and former student of Giron, has composed an original score for this production, according to a release.

Olm also will offer a nine-week playwriting class from June 11 to Aug. 3, during the CC summer semester.

The class will meet on Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. It is a two-credit course listed as THEA 2490 section 03 in the school's summer semester catalogue. Register early, as there must be a minimum of eight students enrolled to hold this class.

Scott Von plays All That Jazz

Musician Scott Von will perform on Friday, April 13, from 7-11 p.m. at All That Jazz in the Parkway Plaza Hotel and Convention Centre. Admission is free.

"Von was raised on small-town church choirs, his parents' jazz albums, and the folk influences of the Ohio Valley," a release explained.

"His music has been described as 'Roots Music,' which Von says is ideal because he is then free to explore 'everything from the folk, Americana, world and jazz idioms.'

"(Von) has been compared to John Hiatt, and more recently (to) Jack Johnson," the release said.

Diversity dinner ends with Polish victuals

The food of Poland is the focus of the final 2006-07 Casper College Ethnic Dinner on Thursday, April 12, from 5-6:45 p.m. in the Roberts Commons Cafeteria.

The menu will include: radish green onion salad; potato salad; pickle soup; potato dumplings; cabbage rolls; beets and sour cream; Polish sausage and sauerkraut; beer rye bread, and for dessert, fruit custard and Polish tea.

Tickets are $9.50 for adults, and are available at the door. All sales are cash only.

This event is sponsored by the CC Diversity Committee.

Fifth-, sixth-grade dance set

Rocky Mountain Sound & Light Company and the Casper Recreation Center will host a dance for fifth- and sixth-grade students on Friday, April 13, from 7:30-10 p.m. at the center, according to a release.

Admission is $5 a person and includes dancing, games and prizes.

A portion of the proceeds benefits a youth scholarship program.
